Kenroku-en

Kenroku-en is one of the Japan’s three most beautiful landscape gardens. Its outer grounds used to be the outer garden of Kanazawa Castle. The garden was opened to the public in 1871. And what this garden gives a very remarkable edge amongst other garden is that, the beauty of the landscape remains and varies every season.

The name Kenroku-en, meaning “Garden of the Six Sublimities”, refers to the six characteristics that makes a garden considered perfect, i.e. spaciousness, seclusion, artificiality, antiquity, abundant water and broad views.
